Redeeming a Christmas present...

Jethro surprised me on Christmas with tickets to The Lion King in Las Vegas along with a weekend away from the girls. I was so excited! It was our last chance to get away before our little boy is born and our first vacation away together since before Katya was born (4 years ago!). Jethro is so wonderful and knew that I really needed it and despite my initial fears that this little boy might be crazy enough to come while we were in Vegas, we had an absolutely fabulous time.

We drove down on Friday and stayed in Mesquite. We enjoyed a leisurely dinner and hit up the fabulous movie Sherlock Holmes. Saturday we enjoyed lazing around and headed to Vegas. The Lion King was amazing! It's the first time that I have been to an off-Broadway show and I loved it. It is definitely worth seeing.

Waiting for the show to start. Unfortunately we couldn't take pics during the show.

We walked the strip after the show and headed to dinner. It's been awhile since I've been to Vegas. The new pedestrian bridges over the streets are fabulous and also make for good pictures.

We enjoyed a nice dinner and P.F. Changs (we'd never been). Their food is so yummy, especially their lettuce wraps and mandarin beef. It was a fabulous evening.

We headed home Sunday and found the girls happy and content. They had so much fun with Mike and Brie and Amy and Dave that we had no worries. It was a fabulous weekend and I'm grateful for a fabulous weekend with a husband who does something for me that I won't do for myself.

Why am I so excited for this week?

  1. I came home to 2 little chatterboxes.
  2. Baby projects.
  3. Temple.
  4. Preschool.
  5. Scouts.
  6. Relaxing Weekend.
  7. Lots of fun sewing projects.

New Year's Eve and Parent's visit

We spent New Year's Eve at home with my sister and parents. We had sandwiches and other yummy foods with a side of football and card games.

My parents came for Christmas and my sister's wedding. The majority of the time they were at our house, the girls just wanted to be read to and chased. They truly enjoyed having their grandparents here.

Bowling

We took the girls bowling for their first time on New Year's Eve. They seemed to enjoy it for a few minutes. Katya enjoyed it the whole time, but Cali, who enjoys bowling at home, would rather play with 2 quarters and a dime instead of bowling.

Cali insisted or carrying her own 6 pound ball and only dropped it once

Proof that I was there. (I am not about ready to post any pictures of me bowling.)

My younger sister, Beka, got married on Dec. 29. Although it was a long day, the wedding was beautiful and we are happy to welcome Nate into the family.

Christmas Day

Christmas was a nice quiet affair this year. We started out with the girls opening their stockings and presents from us in the morning. About noon my family came over and we opened some more presents and then had dinner. The girls really enjoyed it and were a little overwhelmed by all the unwrapping and presents.
