2 Months

Today Cali is 2 months old. I can't believe it. I feel like she was just born. For the most part she sleeps through the nigh- from about 11-8. I just wish I could get her to bed earlier. She smiles so cute, especially when she hears that she is beautiful. I just love this little Cali so much. She is so different than Katya, but a lot the same. I love how she is developing her own personality. I can already tell that she is going to be a serious child. She always has such a serious look on her face and is always so solemn. It is so cute though. I just love her.

I took her in for her 2 month checkup today and I was totally surprised. I kept telling people that I thought she was about 12 pounds and nobody believed me. They kept saying how she was lighter than that. Well, I was more right than everyone else was. She weighs in at a whopping 13 lb. 5 oz.! I can't believe it! She is also 23.5 inches long. Wow! I don't know where she's putting all that weight at, but she doesn't look extremely fat. She just looks so cute.

I thought I'd post pics to show how different Katya and Cali were at 2 months.

Katya 7lb. 7 oz. 21 in.

Cali 13 lb. 5 oz. 23.5 in.

What a difference between the two. I love them both and am so grateful to have them both and that they can grow up together.

President Gordon B. Hinckley Dies at 97

Here are the links. I saw President Hinckley speak a few times. I ran the teleprompter for him once at BYU-Idaho. Other than that, I haven't had any personal contact with him. I do know this, though: Gordon B. Hinckley was a prophet of God, just like Moses, Adam, Noah, Peter, Nephi, Lehi, Mormon, and all the other holy prophets in the scriptures.

Our Third Kid

That's right, we have an announcement. We have another kid. Have is the operative word, not having. Do you think we are crazy or something?

Here is our new kid. Isn't it cute?!!

We just love our new kid it brings so much joy to our lives.

Pretty cool, huh? It is definitely going to take me forever to eat. Paul, our landlord, just returned from a trip out East. While there, he went to Hershey, Pennsylvania. This is the biggest chocolate bar they make. Can you believe it is 5 pounds? I don't know when I'll be able to finish it. I think it is every woman's dream to have a 5 pound chocolate bar. I am one lucky woman. Thanks Paul for the wonderful chocolate bar.

Word of the Year

After reading Kristi's post about picking a word for the year, I was inspired to do the same. I thought about it all yesterday and went to bed thinking about it. I think some of the best ideas come in the shower and that's when I thought of my word. It is MOLD. I'm not talking about the mold in the shower or on food, I'm talking about the other mold. A definition that Dictionary.com had that suits my reason for choosing this word is "a distinctive nature, character, or type". I want to mold my life into the way it should be and the way I want it to be. I want to apply this word to all faucets of my life.

Here are the ways I want to MOLD my life:
  • Physically- No more being lazy. I'm going to work out at least twice a week. I need the energy to play with the kids.
  • Spiritually- I need to read the scriptures more and be more involved in discussions at church on a regular basis. This also involves going to the temple at least once a month.
  • Financially- Be more balanced financially and look to the future.
  • Intellectually- Read/Listen to more books on many different subjects and by many different authors
  • Relationships- I want to grow closer to Jethro and I want to mold our relationship into one of greater love and understanding. I want to mold the relationships with my girls into something that they will always remember.
  • Friendships- I want to be a better friend and move out of my shyness and mold myself into someone who is more friendly and more open.
  • Myself- I want to take time for myself. I think that after staying home and taking care of two kids all day, I tend to forget who I am and who I want to become. I want to take time to fit the mold of the person I've always dreamed of being.
  • Talents- I've always thought that I haven't had many talents, but it's not true. I am going to take the time to develop those talents in a way that I will feel better about myself and that will help me be the person I desire.
I want to be a distinct and unique individual. I don't want to fall by the wayside. I don't have to. My molding myself into the person I want to be, I can become a better person with better self-esteem and a better contributor to society. I want to do this for myself. I don't want to hide anymore. I'm excited to have a year filled with challenges of striving to do and be better. Hopefully I can keep it up and come out better in the end.

Oldy but a goody

I blogged about this when I hosted this blog on my website, but since I deleted all those posts, it is no longer an option. Staci and I moved into our new apartment in the fall of 2005, after living in southern California for 4 months. We didn't have anybody help us, and we needed to move our stuff, so we got creative. I still want a truck.

I Am a Child of God!

This cute video shows that Katya is very smart and knows who people are, especially the important ones. She says "I love this person" by kissing their picture. So cute!

Contest

I saw this contest on a link from someone's blog and thought I'd see what it was all about. All I can say is that the jewelry is just gorgeous.

Teresa is running her first contest of the year over at her personal blog. You have a chance to win a beautiful turquoise bracelet created by Lori Jaclyn. She’s willing to ship anywhere and that means anyone is eligible to participate and win.

Finally some video of Cali

One thing that always amazes Staci and me about Cali is that she grows! She is already wearing size 2 diapers at night. Katya (19 months older) is wearing size 3 diapers. You can see how chubby she is in this video. It is very cute. The other night, Staci went over to check on her as she was sleeping in the baby papasan, and she saw her doing this:

Sewing Projects

Did I ever mention how much I love my sewing machine? Well, I really do. Here are just a few of my recent projects. They are fleece pillows with the edges tied. I think they turned out pretty cute.

I wonder what I should do next.

Maybe next year...

It snowed 7 inches last night and this morning...

so we decided to take Katya sledding since she has never been. The hill looked like a lot of fun. Katya didn't think so.

Maybe we'll try again next year.

When I grow up, I want to be.....

We were over at Rebekah and Matt's last night and Nya was drawing on her easel and wanted me to draw too. Jethro brought Katya in the room to see if it was okay if she drew too. Nya said that it was definitely okay. Katya had so much fun. Maybe she'll be an artist when she grows up.

Starting to Smile

Cali has started to smile and it so cute! She smiles just like Jethro and it is so adorable! We haven't been able to catch her full smile on camera yet so the pictures we have will have to do for now. I can't wait to capture her full smile on camera.

Another Political Poll

This one [http://www.electoralcompass.com/page/0/thema+s/] is actually pretty good, I think, and seems less biased than others. It is also interesting because of my results. Tom, you will especially like them.

Great Song

This song has been stuck in my head for a long time, months even. It was only hosted on NBC's website (LAME) or on another one that had a lot of not good stuff on it... So, I recently got invited to the HULU.com beta and you can share video that you watch on there, so I thought I would post this since it is always in my head.

Jethro's Blog

I try to just let people naturally find my education blog, but since I am interested in learning something this semester at school, I would like it if you could jump over to my blog and answer two quick questions. The more answers the more exciting it will be...for me at least.

Thanks.

Lil' Stinker

Katya never took a pacifier when she was little. She preferred her fingers which was fine with me. Cali on the other hand likes the pacifier occasionally. As I was on the computer, Katya pulled herself up on the coffee table and grabbed Cali's pacifier. She then rolled over to near where Cali was and started sucking and chewing on it. Right when she started doing this Cali started crying. Katya then turned to me to show me what she had. I went over and took it away from Katya and then Cali stopped crying immediately. I think that Katya has already figured out how to tease poor, defenseless little Cali. I'm sure that that will change once Cali gets a little bigger.

Sewing Projects

I really love my new sewing machine. It is great. I can't help but rave about it and I love using it. Not only do I love finally having a sewing machine but I also love how easy it is to us. When I lived at home, I would always use my mom's. Her is nice, but kind of hard to work. With mine, it pretty much threads the needle by itself. It just can't get any easier than that. This is my beloved sewing machine.

Because I have a sewing machine at my disposal, I have gone project crazy. I found some fabric on sale on Friday and I had the perfect projects for it. I did two projects yesterday and one today. They were pretty easy so I was able to do them during the girls naps.

This is a scarf I made for Jethro. One side is cotton BYU fabric
and the other side is fleece.

These are new throw pillows for our couch out of the same
fabric as Jethro's scarf.

No, I am not a UofU fan. I made these as a gift for someone.
They are cotton UofU fabric and red flannel.

Cali's Blessing, Christmas, and New Years

I know I'm a little behind, but things have been busy. My family came in on Dec. 22 to attend Cali's blessing and celebrate the holidays here. We all had a great time and stayed busy playing with the kids and eating. It was a lot of fun and I'm so glad that my parents were able to come out and that the family was all together again.

Cali's Blessing- It was wonderful to have so many of our friends and family here. We are thankful for all their support and love. We sure are lucky to know people like you.

Christmas- It was kind of crowded in our small apartment with everybody, but so much fun to have everybody here. Katya absolutely loved ripping the paper open and seeing here toys, books and clothes. She got so excited. We have video of it that I'll have to get Jethro to post it was so cute. My parents got me a sewing machine. I've wanted one for so long so thanks mom and dad. It'll definitely be put to good use. It was nice to be at home and with family. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas.

Isn't he cute?

My dad with Cali

My mom with Cali

New Years- We just hung out on New Years Eve and played Scattegories and on New Years Day we went to a yummy lunch at Olive Garden and watched football. It was nice and low key. It was really great to have my family here and I'm so glad they came. Katya and Cali sure enjoyed it and I'm glad they had someone to play with and entertain.

Family Pictures

The day after Christmas we got together with my family to take a big family picture. We haven't had one since April of 2005 so it was due time for one. We went to downtown and Amy came to take it for us. (Thanks Amy!) We decided to do our little family picture also. I think they turned out well.

Katya has figured out how to pull up on stuff and thinks that it is the best. She also thinks she is so funny- well, she really is. She was making all of us laugh really hard.

This is her super excited, laughing really hard face.

I feel bad...

I feel bad because Cali hasn't had as much camera time as Katya did when she was first born. It must be because Cali is the second child and taking care of two is so much more work than taking care of one. Hopefully I can remember to take pictures of Cali so hat she can have as many scrapbooks as Katya.

Here are some pics I took of her a couple of weeks ago.
